Your daily decisions have a direct effect on your health. A few basic principles can contribute to keeping you in good shape:

  • Sleep at least 8 hours per day
  • Choose healthy food in order to reduce the risk of diabetes, hypertension or obesity
  • Limit your alcohol consumption and tobacco use

Safety measures have to be adapted to each environment and each type of work. During your assignment, the DRAKKAR team and management will inform you of the specific standards to be met. Certain recommendations may nevertheless apply to all work environments:

  • Work safely and healthily, ensuring cleanliness and orderliness of the workplace
  • Identify, report and help correct dangers relating to health or safety
  • Conduct targeted exercises to prevent risks of injury
  • Maintain good posture and avoid dangerous moves, especially exaggerated and repeated twisting and turning

EXAMPLE: HOW TO SAFELY LIFT A HEAVY LOAD

You can reduce the risk of injury and fatigue by following these basic principles for safety in handling:

  • Stay close to the load, facing toward your destination
  • Spread your legs to keep your balance
  • Have a firm grip on the load to be carried
  • Keep your arms straight
  • Tighten your abdominal muscles
  • Use your own weight to initiate the movement
  • Lift the load close to the body and avoid any twisting movement
  • Use the leg muscles by bending the knees and keeping the back as straight as possible
  • Don’t lift the object if you are not certain to be able to do it safely
